The Miami Herald recently published an article that lists the most desirable suburbs in Miami. We agree, many of the neighborhoods listed are safe, family friendly and offer a wonderful lifestyle, with access to beautiful homes, parks and green areas. However, we were extremely disappointed with the lack of depth when listing the best schools in each suburb. The article lists the same school options for all areas, and in many instances the distance between the suburb and the school listed is significant – who is not familiar with Miami traffic? Who in Ojus would want to drive 57 miles to attend the School for Advanced Studies in Homestead? Although highly ranked, School for Advanced Studies is exclusively a public school for 11th and 12th grade students with very specific admission parameters.
School information found online is often deceiving and not accurate. There are many local neighborhood schools that are worth considering in each one of the suburbs listed. For example, Doral Academy in Doral, David Fairchild Elementary and South Miami Middle School near Glenvar Heights, Somerset Gables in Coral Gables, Miami Shores Elementary in Miami Shores, among many others.
